Wilderness Alternative Expedition fly-in safari
Trade the long road for a scheduled light-aircraft flight and begin reading the landscape from above. This is not a shorter safari disguised as a premium product: it protects two nights in Amboseli while removing the least rewarding transfer hours, making it particularly useful for couples, honeymooners, older travellers and guests connecting between safari regions.
Why fly
Flying preserves energy and places the first game drive close to the moment of arrival. It also changes the introduction: dry river lines, farms, volcanic forms and wildlife country become visible as connected geography. Exact schedules and routings change, so the final plan is built around the confirmed service rather than a hard-coded time.
At a glance
- Three days and two nights
- Scheduled light-aircraft travel from Nairobi Wilson Airport
- Private safari vehicle and guide in Amboseli
- Best for short stays, couples and multi-destination connections
- Flight routing and baggage limits reconfirmed for your dates
What flying changes
It does not guarantee more wildlife. It gives back time, reduces road fatigue and makes Amboseli easier to combine elegantly with another safari area. The ground experience remains private even though the scheduled flight may be shared.
Accommodation that supports the route
The same itinerary can be built with well-chosen mid-range, premium or luxury accommodation. Location matters as much as the room: a camp close to the right gate can protect the best morning light, while a property farther from the park may trade access for privacy, space or a different landscape. We recommend the final combination after knowing your dates, room needs, comfort level and photographic priorities.
Your safari price
Private safari — priced for your dates, group and accommodation.
The final quotation reflects season, group size, room configuration, selected properties, park fees, vehicle requirements, scheduled flight availability and any optional activities. We do not force a fixed public price onto a journey whose real cost changes with the way it is designed.

Wildlife movements, sightings and clear views of Kilimanjaro are natural possibilities, not guarantees. The daily plan remains responsive to current conditions, guest comfort and sound guiding judgement.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 — Wilson Airport to Amboseli by light aircraft
Meet at Wilson Airport for check-in and the scheduled flight south. Light aircraft may make planned stops according to the day’s routing. From the air, the scale of southern Kenya becomes clear; Kilimanjaro may appear above cloud as the plane approaches the Amboseli ecosystem.
Land at the designated airstrip, meet your private guide and begin the safari without returning to a distant roadhead. Depending on arrival time, transfer to camp for lunch before an afternoon drive or start with game viewing en route. Work the wetlands, pans or open plains as conditions suggest, then settle into your chosen camp or lodge for dinner.
Day 2 — A full private day in Amboseli
Begin early when light is soft and tracks are fresh. A private vehicle gives you the option to wait with elephants, devote time to photography, change sectors when the wind rises or pause when animal behaviour asks for quiet. The guide may recommend split drives or a picnic day depending on wildlife movement and the location of your accommodation.
Use the middle hours deliberately. Rest at camp, review photographs, watch activity around a water source or remain in the field if distance makes a return inefficient. The afternoon brings new light, longer shadows and often a different movement across the plains.
Day 3 — Final drive and scheduled flight to Wilson
Take a final early drive if the confirmed flight schedule allows. The guide uses the last morning to revisit a productive area or search for a different habitat rather than repeating the same loop. Transfer to the airstrip, where a bush-airstrip welcome or farewell can become part of the journey, then fly back to Wilson for your onward transfer.
