Mombasa and Diani are often treated as interchangeable coast labels. They are not. Mombasa brings urban Swahili history and a working harbour; Diani brings a long beach and resort rhythm. This journey gives each a proper role.
Begin with two nights near Mombasa for heritage, then cross to a three-night South Coast stay. Transfers account for traffic and the channel crossing.
Journey at a glance
Start: Mombasa. Finish: Ukunda or Mombasa. Style: Private and tailored. This itinerary is a planning framework; the final sequence responds to flights, tides, weather, room availability and the interests of your party.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 — Arrive in Mombasa
Private transfer to the selected North Coast, island or creek-side property.
Day 2 — Fort Jesus and Old Town
Explore with a knowledgeable guide, paying attention to trade, architecture and contemporary town life rather than staging a photo walk.
Day 3 — Mombasa to Diani
Cross to the South Coast by the routing best for current traffic and settle into the beach property.
Day 4 — A full Diani day
Unstructured time for sea, sand and the chosen hotel or villa.
Day 5 — Choose one experience
Add Kisite-Mpunguti, a local excursion or another quiet beach day.
Day 6 — Departure
Private transfer to Ukunda, Mombasa or the next journey stage.

Price and booking
We do not publish a token “from” price because coastal rates change by travel date, room, meal plan, child ages and transport. Tell us your dates, party and preferred comfort level. We will quote the complete journey, explain the important trade-offs and offer alternatives only where they genuinely improve the trip.
Responsible travel
Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. We use established marine and cultural guides, keep respectful distance from animals, avoid standing on coral and ask before photographing people. Weather, tide and local safety advice always take priority over a fixed programme.
Frequently asked questions
Can this itinerary follow a safari?
Yes. We build the transfer into the journey rather than leaving guests to connect separate bookings.
Is the journey suitable for children?
Often yes, but boat length, swimming confidence, room layout and transfer time must be matched to the children’s ages.
Can the itinerary be made more private?
Yes. Private vehicles, villas, boats and specialist guiding can be quoted where available and operationally sensible.
