Day 1 — Fly from Arusha to the seasonal Serengeti region
Transfer to Arusha Airport and fly by scheduled light aircraft to the airstrip serving the most appropriate Serengeti region. Meet your private driver-guide and begin the safari from the airstrip. Northern Serengeti is normally considered during the main dry-season migration period; the west becomes relevant as herds move through the Western Corridor; southern Serengeti and Ndutu suit the green and calving season. The decision is made from your month and current field information.
Day 2 — Full day in the seasonal region
Leave early and use the full day to read the landscape rather than race between radio calls. If herds are near a river, your guide may wait at a sensible distance while protecting other wildlife opportunities. Crossings are never guaranteed. Resident predators, elephants, plains game and birdlife keep the day worthwhile when the migration is elsewhere.
Day 3 — Seasonal region to central Serengeti
Drive towards Seronera through changing plains, woodland and kopje country. This transfer doubles as a game drive and should not be described as a short hop. Central Serengeti provides the itinerary with resilience because permanent water supports resident wildlife through the year.
Day 4 — Central Serengeti to the Ngorongoro highlands
Begin with a final early drive around the Seronera river system, then continue east towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Gate procedures, sightings and road conditions affect the arrival time. Stay on or near the crater rim when budget and availability justify it, or in the Karatu highlands for more choice and value.
Day 5 — Ngorongoro Crater and return to Arusha
Descend early with a picnic lunch for a carefully paced crater safari, then drive to Arusha. The crater is productive year-round, but no species—including black rhino—is guaranteed. Do not connect to a tight international departure this evening; an Arusha or Kilimanjaro overnight can be added when required.

When this route works
This framework works throughout the year only when the Serengeti region is changed with the season. Northern river-country versions are commonly planned from July into October, but rainfall controls the herds. Southern and Ndutu versions are strongest in the green season, especially around January and February. Western Corridor versions may be relevant from roughly May into July.
