Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 — Arrive in Entebbe
Meet the Wilderness Alternative representative at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to a comfortable hotel. The first evening is deliberately unhurried, with time to rest and review the road, permits and luggage for the journey ahead.
Day 2 — Entebbe to Lake Mburo
Travel southwest in a private 4×4 to Lake Mburo National Park. After lunch and time to settle, make an afternoon game drive through acacia woodland and open grassland. Zebra, impala, eland and buffalo are among the possibilities; every sighting remains a privilege rather than a promise.
Day 3 — Lake Mburo on foot, then towards Bwindi
Walk at first light with an authorised ranger, when tracks, birds and smaller details make the landscape especially rewarding. After breakfast, continue to the Bwindi region. The lodge and final drive are selected only after the UWA permit sector is confirmed—Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo are not interchangeable.
Day 4 — Gorilla tracking in Bwindi
Attend the ranger briefing and enter the forest with trackers and an optional porter. The walk may be short or demanding because the gorillas move through steep habitat. Once the family is found, follow the ranger’s instructions during the permitted viewing period, then return to the lodge for a quiet afternoon.
Day 5 — Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth via Ishasha
Leave after an easy breakfast and drive through the Ishasha sector towards the northern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The route itself is a wildlife corridor. A patient game drive may find elephant, buffalo, antelope or lions, but the famous tree-climbing behaviour is never guaranteed.
Day 6 — Queen Elizabeth and the Kazinga Channel
Explore the Kasenyi plains on a morning game drive, then return to the lodge during the warmer middle of the day. In the afternoon, cruise the Kazinga Channel for close views of hippo, waterbirds and animals coming to drink. The order may change with current boat times and wildlife conditions.
Day 7 — Queen Elizabeth to Kibale
Travel north towards Kibale, with views across crater country and the Rwenzori foothills in clear weather. Arrive with time to settle at the forest-edge lodge. A short guided walk or quiet birding can be arranged according to energy and local conditions.
Day 8 — Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale
Join UWA rangers for a chimpanzee tracking session in Kibale Forest. Encounters, distance and light cannot be controlled, so the focus is on skilled observation and respectful forest behaviour. The afternoon remains flexible for rest or an optional community wetland walk.
Day 9 — Kibale to Entebbe
Return to Entebbe by private road transfer, with a scheduled Kasese–Entebbe flight substituted when the final proposal and operating schedule support it. Wilderness Alternative protects a realistic international connection buffer; a final Entebbe night can be added for an early onward flight.
Price and operating basis
From USD 5,850 per person sharing for two guests. The starting price uses premium, geographically sensible lodges, a private vehicle and guide, one gorilla permit and one chimpanzee permit. The exact proposal is reconfirmed against travel month, permit availability, room category and any domestic-flight choice.

Permits, pace and responsible travel
Gorilla and chimpanzee permits are secured only after availability is checked and the required permit payment is received. Low-season tariffs may apply in selected months but carry their own conditions. UWA rules and ranger decisions take precedence. The route uses local rangers and community-led activities where appropriate, and the final lodge plan protects both habitat access and sensible working hours for the guide.
