Why this is the right short format
Bwindi has four operational sectors. Your permit determines the sector; the sector determines the airstrip, road transfer and lodge. We confirm that geography before booking accommodation. Kihihi normally serves Buhoma and parts of northern Bwindi, while Kisoro is usually the practical gateway for southern sectors such as Nkuringo and Rushaga. The final routing follows the permit actually secured.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 — Entebbe to Bwindi by scheduled flight
Meet the WAE representative at Entebbe and take the scheduled domestic flight to Kihihi or Kisoro. Your private driver-guide meets the aircraft and transfers you into the hills surrounding Bwindi. The afternoon is deliberately light: settle into the lodge, check rain gear and daypack, and receive a practical briefing on the next morning. If arrival time and sector allow, take a short guided forest-edge or village walk without turning the first day into a race.
Day 2 — Gorilla tracking in Bwindi
After an early breakfast, transfer to the correct UWA briefing point. Rangers allocate groups and explain forest conduct before the trek begins. Tracking time varies with the gorillas’ movements and may involve steep, muddy ground, roots and dense vegetation. When the group is located, the permitted viewing period is controlled by the rangers. The encounter is wild and unscripted; distance, light and visibility cannot be guaranteed.
A porter is strongly recommended. Beyond carrying your daypack, porter participation directly supports households around the forest. Return to the lodge for a warm meal and an unhurried evening.
Day 3 — Bwindi to Entebbe
Transfer to the sector-appropriate airstrip and fly to Entebbe. We plan the connection with a sensible buffer and can add an Entebbe night when an international departure is too close to the domestic arrival.

Permit and health note
The latest publicly available UWA tariff at the time of writing listed foreign non-resident gorilla permits at USD 800. Because the published tariff period ended in June 2026, the live tariff, sector and availability are reconfirmed before deposit. Guests with a contagious respiratory illness must not enter a gorilla group; ranger and UWA decisions are final. The usual minimum tracking age is 15 and is reconfirmed at booking.
